Philips' BioUp technology improves the LED light spectrum with blue-green light, which increases the biological
effect of the light. Thanks to BioUp, the melanopic coefficient is 42% higher compared to the standard LED light spectrum (see Table 1). The color of the light and the light output do not change (4,000 K, CRI > 80, R9 > 50).

This graph below shows the standard LED light spectrum (white curve) and the new BioUp (black curve). The peak of the blue-green light wavelength is clearly visible.

The importance of light for performance

Today, people spend an average of more than 90% of their time indoors, of which 36% is spent in the workplace. The more time you spend indoors, the less you take advantage of the benefits of light. Consequently, people do not get to enjoy enough daylight, which helps: See better, Feel better, To perform better

Light has a visual effect (you see better), an emotional effect (you feel better) and a biological effect (you perform better).

Although light has a biological effect on overall well-being, the lux levels of indoor lighting are usually decided according to the visual function of the light (500 lux), which are usually lower than the recommended light levels for biological effects.

What is melanopic light?

Melanopic light is a part of biological light that plays an important role in synchronizing the body's circadian rhythm with the non-visual effects of light. When
