The aim is to improve the energy efficiency of buildings, reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint \u2013 but at the same time increase the safety and comfort of buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/ym.fi\/rakennusten-energiatehokkuusdirektivin-udistus\" target=\"_self\">The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)<\/a> is part of the EU's <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/fi\/policies\/fit-for-55\/\" target=\"_self\">Fit for 55 readiness package<\/a>, which aims to reduce EU emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. The primary objective of the directive is to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to achieve a net-zero building stock by 2050 at the latest. The directive entered into force in May 2024 and must be implemented nationally in the member states by 29 May 2026.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Changes are being prepared in Finnish legislation, for example to the Construction Act, the Act on the Energy Performance of Buildings and several building regulations.
